Art of Jazz at SAM
	This month's Art of Jazz concert at Seattle Art Museum downtown is this Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., featuring the Marc Seales Group. Pianist and composer Marc Seales is a past recipient of the Earshot Golden Ear Award for Northwest Instrumentalist of the Year. Presented by Earshot Jazz and welcomed by KPLU. Sonny Rollins in Portland
The Portland Jazz Festival presents jazz legend Sonny Rollins, performing at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall on Friday,
September 21, sponsored by KPLU. At this special event, the Portland Jazz Festival will also announce its 2008 Festival lineup.

"This I Believe" comes to Seattle
Edward R. Murrow's classic radio series This I Believe asked Americans of all kinds to tell audiences about their most cherished personal beliefs. In 2005, Jay Allison and Dan Gediman brought the series back as a weekly segment on NPR's Morning Edition. Allison and Gediman have collected some of their favorite essays in a new book. Gediman and some of the essay writers featured in the book will be at the University of Washington's Kane Hall Monday, September 24, 7 p.m.  Free tickets are required for admission. Co-presented by KPLU.

2007 Earshot Jazz Festival, October 19-November 4
Now in its 19th year, Seattle's major annual jazz festival brings important musicians from around the world to Seattle, and presents Seattle's finest jazz artists in a world-class festival setting, sponsored by KPLU. Enjoy over 70 events in concert halls, clubs, and community centers all around the Seattle area. Opening weekend includes two great shows at McCaw Hall: Ahmad Jamal on October 19; and Toots Thielemans with Kenny Werner on October 20.

NPR's Scott Simon receives Global Citizen Award
NPR Weekend Edition Saturday host Scott Simon is being honored for his remarkable spirit and creative commitments to a better world.  The Krista Foundation for Global Citizenship will award Simon their 2007 Global Citizen Award on Sunday, October 7 at Campion Hall on the Seattle University campus. The public is invited to attend the award presentation, which includes a banquet. Proceeds benefit the Krista Foundation.
